A research assistant professor position is available in South University of Science and Technology of China, Shenzhen. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to electronic structure calculations on novel energy materials (thermoelectric materials, solar cell materials, electrode/electrolyte materials for rechargeable ion batteries), computational and theoretical study on topological materials (topological insulators and semimetals, Wannier function methods, quantum anomalous hall effect). These studies will be in close collaboration with experimental groups. The required qualifications include a PhD degree in physics or closely related areas, strong background in the practice of first-principles calculations and scientific programming skills.

We offer competitive compensation and housing packages. The annual salary will be in the range of 300-450k RMB (~ 45-67k USD, at current exchange rates), depending on the candidate's research experience and academic qualifications. Qualified candidates will also receive a bonus package (tax free) totaling 1.6-2 million RMB (~ 240-300k USD), to be distributed annually over 5 years. This position can be funded for a three-year period initially, with a possibility for extension pending acceptable performance.
