We are seeking an energetic candidate for a project associate professor position in the Division of Data-Integrated Materials Science, the Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP), the University of Tokyo (UTokyo), Japan. Your applications will be highly appreciated. 

This division is funded by Toyota Motor Corporation based on its contract with ISSP, the University of Tokyo. The objective of this division is the integration of computational and experimental approaches through data-scientific methods, thereby developing new schemes for prediction and design of innovative functional materials. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research in materials science as a PI and play a central role in this division.

Contract period: April 1, 2024 - March 31, 2027

Duration of appointment renewal or not: There is a possibility of renewal of this position, under the condition that the contract with Toyota Motor Corporation is renewed. That decision is made based on progress of the work, workload at the end of the contract term, work performance, work attitude, health situation, and other factors. The renewal shall be limited to once, and its term must not exceed March 31, 2029.

Salary: The basic salary will be decided after considering the successful candidate’s academic and professional background. Commuting allowance (up to 55,000 yen per month), and other allowances and a system for regular wage raises are provided following the related regulations of UTokyo.
