Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER in COMPUTATIONAL NANOPHYSICS, University of Jyväskylä (JYU)

The position is for two years and starts on 1.5.2022 or as soon as possible  thereafter. A one-year extension may be considered depending on the progress of the project.

The Postdoctoral Researcher will work in the research group of Professor Hannu Häkkinen in an international project where gold nanoparticles will be functionalized for photodynamic therapy. The tasks of the researcher will include development and validation of state-of-art computational methods to study photophysics (absorption and fluorescence) of the nanoparticles in a wide energy range from X-rays to visible light. The international setting of the project enables wide interactions with experimental groups in Canada, US, UK and Japan. The group of prof. Häkkinen works at the JYU’s Nanoscience Center which  is an interdisciplinary research organization where physicists, chemists and biologists work together to study nature at the nanoscale. NSC forms an international scientific community and its research projects span from fundamental investigations of processes in nanoscale structures to development of commercial products. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2022. For more info and link to the online application, see:
