This is a duplicate of an earlier posting – because two (2) candidates will be hired. Both positions are available immediately, with initial appointment up to 1 year and possible extension based upon funding and performance. The associate will work with Dr. Koushik Biswas at Arkansas State University.
Candidates with strong background and experience in electronic structure methods (DFT, TDDFT, GW or BSE approaches) as well as programming experience are encouraged to apply. The work will involve the study of complex halides, hybrid halides, oxides, and chalcogenides. These materials have generated interest in radiation detection devices as semiconductors or scintillators and also in photovoltaics. Interest in a variety of materials and experience in bulk, nano-structures and surfaces/interfaces is therefore desired. Experience with point defects will be advantageous.
A PhD in Physics or closely related field is required. Experience with first-principles calculations, strong background in condensed matter physics, some knowledge of high performance computing will be necessary. Good oral and written communication skill is required.
Interested applicants should attach the following: (1) one-page cover letter addressing the candidate's experiences specific to position requirements, and (2) a complete CV with publication and presentation details and the names and contact information of three references.
