Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Quantum Materials at CNPEM

The group of Prof. Adalberto Fazzio at the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials is looking for a postdoctoral research scientist. The application deadline for the position is March 15th. The candidate is expected to apply advanced ab-initio calculations (DFT), data-driven approaches (AI/ML), and mathematical methods in topological quantum materials to understand and design boundary states functionalities.

The Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), located in the city of Campinas – SP, is a private nonprofit organization qualified by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) to manage four national laboratories: Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS), Brazilian Biosciences National Laboratory (LNBio), Brazilian Bioethanol Science and Technology Laboratory (CTBE), Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory (LNNano) and the Ilum School of Science.

This project aims to understand the connection between the interface’s geometries and the arising helical boundary states, guiding new ways of controlling those emergent phenomena, proposing a design of new devices, while additionally finding new materials hosting robust topological phases.

Interested candidates should contact Prof. Adalberto Fazzio, ([email protected]) with a brief statement of research interest/cover letter, a CV, and contact information of 2-3 references. Students in their final year of Ph.D. training are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science & Engineering, or related areas.
• Experience in chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, or related fields.
• Experience in computational modeling methods.
• Experience in machine learning packages.
• Proven experience with python programming.
