Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Postdoctoral Research Scientist in hybrid organic-inorganic interfaces

The group of Prof. Carlos César Bof Bufon at Instituto Presbiteriano Mackenzie
is looking for a postdoctoral research scientist. The application deadline for the position is March 15th. The candidate is expected to produce and characterize molecular and hybrid junctions based on nanomembranes.

The Instituto Presbiteriano Mackenzie, located in the city of São Paulo – SP, host The Advanced Research Center in Graphene, Nanomaterial and Nanotechnology (MackGraphe), also supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (Fapesp), places Mackenzie Presbyterian University in a world-leading position in this research field, and it will represent a strong impact in the technology industry in the next few years.

The present research proposal aims to fill the gaps between molecular electronics and nanoelectronics, integrating the physically adsorbed molecular sets and organic/inorganic hybrid nanomaterials to electronic nanodevices. For this purpose, experimental and theoretical studies will be combined to understand the transport and magnetotransport of electronic charge carriers transport. Such understanding will further contribute to the rational development of functional nanodevices such as spin valves, NEMS/MEMS, and other sensors based on ultrafine molecular structures.

Interested candidates should contact Prof. Carlos César Bof Bufon ([email protected]) with a brief statement of research interest/cover letter, a CV, and contact information of 2-3 references. Students in their final year of Ph.D. training are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science & Engineering, Chemistry, or related areas.
• Experience in chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, or related fields.
• Experience in nanodevices fabrication and characterization.
• Experience in machine learning packages.
