Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Robotic Discovery of Hybrid Solar Fuels Catalysts

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available as part of the £10 M Centre for Functional Materials Design funded by the Leverhulme Trust.  The post will focus on the use of new robotic tools to discover new hybrid photocatalysts for overall water splitting and (potentially) for other reactions. You should have a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science. A background in inorganic materials synthesis methods (e.g., ceramic, combustion, precursor and/or flux methods) and characterisation techniques (e.g., PXRD) is essential. Experience in photocatalysis (e.g., water splitting and/or CO2 reduction) or high-throughput methods would be an advantage, but these are not prerequisites. The project will be supervised by Professor Andrew Cooper FRS and it will be based in the Materials Innovation Factory and the Autonomous Chemistry Laboratory. You will have the opportunity to work with unique robotic platforms and to gain experience that could help to launch a successful career either in academia or in industry.

Grade 7 £34,188 - £39,610

Closing date 23-May-2019 23:30

The post is available for 3 years.
