A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in computational materials physics in the group of Dr. Yuanxi Wang (https://86elements.com/) at the University of North Texas Department of Physics.
We invite scholars with a PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related fields with experience in developing and employing first-principles materials theory. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing first-principles theory for the physical properties of 2D and layered materials, broadly defined – including, but not limited to, optical, electronic, transport, topological, and defect properties. Theory work at the density functional theory level and manybody perturbation theory level are expected. Coding experience in Python and/or Fortran is a plus. The postdoc will have opportunities to carry out independent theory projects aligned with their career goals as well as deep collaborations with diverse experimental efforts that generate high-impact research.
The initial appointment will be for one year and renewed for a second year pending performance reviews. The appointment offers a competitive base salary plus benefits package. The postdoc will also be able to apply for external funding and computational resources to supplement their base salary and to establish their research portfolio. More information can be obtained at UNT Postdoctoral Affairs (https://postdoc.unt.edu/postdoc-resources) or by contacting Yuanxi Wang ([email protected]).
The University of North Texas is located in Denton, Texas, one of the 10 Best College Town in the US, offering abundant opportunities in arts & events and outdoor recreation, low cost of living, and proximity to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex (20 minutes away).
