The Critical Materials Institute at the Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy National Laboratory affiliated with Iowa State University, is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in theory, computation, and modeling of magnetic materials.  Strong knowledge on magnetism and magnetic anisotropy, and how these properties are affected by crystal environment, site substitution and interstitial inclusions in magnetic materials, is preferred.  The candidate will work with advanced density functional theory, many body theories, and machine learning methods, therefore experience with these methods is preferred.

The successful candidate for this position will be collaborating with interdisciplinary group of theorists and experimentalists from condensed matter, materials, and chemical sciences. Therefore, the successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences and to work individually as well as a part of a team.

Required Qualifications: PhD must be completed prior to the start date.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or closely related field. Demonstrated experience with advanced density functional theory, many body theories, and machine learning methods. Demonstrated strong track record of first author publications in peer reviewed journals.
