Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Applications are invited for two Postdoctoral Research Assistant positions in Density Functional Theory and Experimental Studies using Muons. A successful candidate will be based at either (i) Oxford University under the supervision of Professor Stephen Blundell and Professor Feliciano Giustino, or (ii) Durham University under the supervision of Dr Tom Lancaster and Professor Stewart Clark. The posts are for a fixed-term duration of 3 years and are available from September 2016.

The projects will involve computational modelling aimed at understanding the interaction of positive muons with insulating, metallic, magnetic and superconducting materials. The post-holders will be primarily responsible for first principles computational work using electronic structure codes. They will also be expected to participate in a related experimental programme which has emphasis on molecular magnetism, frustrated magnetism and superconductivity.

Further details are available for the Durham post from:

and for the Oxford post from:
