Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Several postdoctoral positions in Computational Materials Physics are available in the group of Prof. Chris Van de Walle in the Materials Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB).

Candidates should have a strong background in condensed matter physics as well as in semiconductor physics, and experience with first-principles calculations.  The ability to work effectively in a team and good communication skills (oral and written) are essential.  Candidates should also have a keen interest in materials physics and device physics and a motivation to interact with experimentalists.  Areas of current interest include recombination mechanisms in electronic and optoelectronic devices, quantum defects, and materials for next-generation computing, optoelectronics, and quantum information science (including nonlinear optical materials and dielectrics).

Applications should include: (1) Curriculum Vitae, (2) Publication List, (3) One-page summary of accomplishments to date, and their significance, (4) Names and contact information of three references.

The UCSB campus offers a unique environment, both in terms of collaborative research and natural beauty.  Candidates who can contribute to a diverse and inclusive environment are particularly encouraged. More information about UCSB and about the Materials Department can be found at http://www.ucsb.edu and http://www.materials.ucsb.edu.  Information about Prof. Van de Walle’s research group can be found at vandewalle.materials.ucsb.edu.

For more information or to apply, please contact Prof. Chris Van de Walle ([email protected]).
