Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Two postdoctoral positions are available immediately in the group of Dr. Mukul Kabir at the Physics department of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune, India. The group is involved in computational understanding and prediction of electronic, magnetic and optical properties of emerging materials. Further, details of our interest and publications can be found on the group website. The group has a state-of-the-art in-house computational facility.

Position 1: The candidate will work on the electronic, optical and catalytic properties of materials relevant for sustainable energy. Duration: 1 year and the position is open immediately.

Position 2: The candidate will work on the electronic, magnetic and transport properties of the emerging quantum and two-dimensional materials with strong electron correlations. Duration: (1 + 1) year and the start date may be negotiable.

Qualifications: Candidates with a Ph. D. in Physics/Chemistry/Materials Science or related fields. Candidates who have submitted their thesis will also be considered.

For both positions, we are looking for motivated candidates with a background in condensed matter physics/chemistry with excellent communication skills in English, along with the following skills.

  1. Background in electronic structure methods such as DFT, DFT+U, GW, BSE, Hubbard model etc. is necessary.
  2. Expert in (m)any electronic structure code(s), such as Quantum-Espresso, VASP or any other first-principles codes.
  3. Model Hamiltonian calculations is a plus.
  4. Open for experimental collaborations.

Interested candidates should send their CV, including the publication list, to [email protected] for further discussion.
