A postdoctoral position is open to collaborate with Alaska Subedi at
Centre de Physique Theorique of Ecole Polytechnique, France. The
position involves first-principles study of light-control of materials
using density functional theory based calculations.
The aim of the project is to understand and predict new ways of
modifying the structure and properties of materials by exciting their
phonons with intense low-frequency laser pulses. We are interested in
studying light-induced phenomena that cannot be accessed by heating,
doping or applying pressure. We will be studying materials that are
of active interest to the experimentalists and will be interacting
closely with the ultrafast experimental group of E. Collet in
University of Rennes.
The candidate should have a strong interest in the physics of complex
materials and experience with first principles methods. We seek
someone who is creative, competitive, determined, and has a strong
sense of independence.
The position can start anytime in early 2021. Please send a CV, a
