Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A postdoctoral position of 18 months in computational chemistry is available at the Institute of Molecular Sciences (Institut des Sciences Moléculaires, ISM) of the University of Bordeaux, under the supervision of Pr. Frédéric Castet. The research work will be conducted within the framework of the TAPIR project (Alternative Technology for Infrared Photodetectors), funded by the French Research Agency (ANR).

The main objective of TAPIR is to achieve a printed organic Infra-Red (IR) photodetector, on flexible substrates, satisfying the requirements in term of performances for Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) applications. Among these requirements, the IR range is needed in order to avoid interaction with visible light. The research work will focus on the simulation of the structural and optical properties of new organic compounds and polymers, in view of guiding the synthesis towards the achievement of suitable compounds. The work will be conducted in close collaboration with experimentalists of the consortium.

The ideal candidate would have a Ph.D. degree in computational or theoretical chemistry. He must be able to work in collaboration within multidisciplinary teams including experimentalists, and demonstrate high-level communication skills in both written and spoken English.

Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Frédéric Castet ([email protected]). Necessary documents for the application are: a curriculum vitae which includes the names and contact details of two referees (preferably including a current or previous supervisor), a letter of motivation addressing the selection criteria, as well as one letter of recommendation.

The position is available from January 2016. Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
