Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Candidates for a postdoctoral position are sought to work at the University of Namur (Belgium) on the Pint-Multi project, funded by the Belgian FNRS and involving two other European research teams. The numerical investigations will be performed in close collaboration with experimental teams.

The project aims to get a deeper understanding on the nucleation and growth of hBN monolayer flake during the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) experiments on different substrates. Both quantum ab-initio methods and semi-classical approaches will be considered in a multiscale approach, in particular DFT, nudge elastic band method, molecular mechanics or kinetic Monte-Carlo.

Job requirements: PhD with a solid background in classical and/or ab-initio simulations in solid states physics. Good knowledge of English, both written and oral is compulsory.

About the group : Retained candidate will join a European collaboration and work and the Solid State Laboratory under the supervision of Prof. Luc Henrard (https://directory.unamur.be/staff/lhenrard) and Dr. Jean-François Colomer (https://directory.unamur.be/staff/jfcolome).

Job position: For this 1-year contract with possible extension, the candidate must fulfill the following European mobility rules: The candidate must be in situation of international mobility (not to have resided in Belgium more than 24 months in the last three years) and not have passed his PhD more than 6 years before the beginning of the stay. Salary follows the legal scale for postdoctoral positions in Belgium (indicatively around 2000 euros after taxes).

Starting date: No later than 1st November 2021.

How to apply: Applicants should send their CV (pdf), a brief motivation letter, the name of two reference persons and a brief description of their skills and scientific achievements, preferably by August 15, 2021 to [email protected] and [email protected].
