Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a 3-4 week delay between posts being submitted and emails being sent to the mailing list. Please bear with us while we try to improve this.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Applications are invited for Postdoctoral Researchers in the Mathematics for Advanced Materials Open Innovation Laboratory (MathAM-OIL) of AIST at Tohoku University. The MathAM-OIL is a research laboratory to focus on the study of advanced materials by computational science, information science, mathematics, theoretical physics, and measurements. The purpose is to investigate complex structures, functions, and fabrication processes of soft materials, 2-dimensional atomic layer materials, and amorphous materials. The backgrounds and research fields of the members are broad: molecular dynamics and first-principle DFT simulations, machine learning, image analysis, mathematics, theoretical physics, network analysis and TEM measurement. Highly motivated candidates from any field in computational science, information science, mathematics, theoretical physics, and measurements are welcome.

The MathAM-OIL is set up on 30 June, 2016 for a collaboration between National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and Advanced Institute for Materials Research (AIMR), Tohoku University. Successful candidates will be encouraged to collaborate with experimental and theoretical researchers in Tohoku University and AIST.

The 2 positions are for a year, renewable for every year until 31 March, 2025. The post-doctoral researchers will be employed directly by AIST and treated according to the regulations of AIST on salary, working time and holidays. An applicant had to obtain his/her Ph.D within these 7 years, or is expected to obtain it shortly. Applications including a CV, publication list, document to prove his/her PhD (if you already had it.), and a brief report on the outline of his/her research until now, should be submitted electrically to [email protected] by 20 Mar., 2023. The detail for the application is found in https://unit.aist.go.jp/matham-oil/jobs_en.htm. Further information about the MathAM-OIL may be found at https://unit.aist.go.jp/matham-oil/index_en.htm; please direct any questions on the application process to [email protected]. Women are strongly encouraged to apply. A non-resident, who has never lived in Japan for one year, will pay tax in higher rate until March in his/her first year.
