Postdoctoral position: Multiscale computational modeling of lithium ion batteries and catalytic reactors
Context
A postdoctoral position for a computational researcher is available at the Laboratoire de Réactivité et Chimie des Solides (LRCS), in Amiens, France (https://www.u-picardie.fr/labo/lrcs/). The position is funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 Programme, through the Project “POROUS4APP”, and is dedicated to the development of cutting-edge multi-scale computational models of lithium ion batteries (LIBs) and catalytic reactors (CRs) (http://www.modeling-electrochemistry.com).
The postdoctoral scientist will work in strong connection with both academia and the industry laboratories within the consortium. The predictive capabilities of the developed models are expected to support the design of a new generation of LIBs and CRs.
Candidate profile
The candidate should have a recent PhD, and an initial background in materials science, electrochemistry, physical chemistry/chemical or electrochemical engineering, with demonstrated competences in modeling and simulation, preferably by using continuum approaches (e.g. computational software such as Comsol Multiphysics, Matlab…etc.) and Kinetic Monte Carlo techniques. He/she should be a motivated, open-minded, highly dynamic and a team-player person.
Publications, participation in international conferences, and even patent applications, will be strongly encouraged. Applicants should be fluent in English, both written and spoken. The postdoctoral scientist will benefit from an intellectually highly stimulating environment at LRCS, and from frequent contacts with the laboratories of the ALISTORE European Research Institute on Electrochemical Energy Storage and the French Network on Electrochemical Energy Storage (RS2E), in which LRCS is a main actor.
The initial contract will be for 1 year, with a possible extension for an additional year depending on the candidate experience. The position will start in September/October 2016. Candidates should submit a moitvation letter and a curriculum vitae, including transcripts and the contact details of three references to
