Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Postdoctoral position in OLED photonics and method development

School of Physics, Trinity College Dublin

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in simulation of thermally activated delayed fluoresence organic light emitting diodes and method development. The position will involve simulation of OLED aggregates and OLEDs in the condensed phase by GW/BSE, time dependent Hartree-Fock and molecular dynamics methods. Qualified candidates must demonstrate that they are capable of contributing to development of the Exciton code [1,2].

The candidate will have a PhD in quantum chemistry, computational condensed matter physics or closely related field. He or she will be expected to contribute to code development and maintenance. Programming experience in C or Fortran and MPI is required. Prior experience in molecular dynamics, DFT simulation and especially many-body methods are desired.

The project will be focused on investigation of the mechanism of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF). Absorption and fluorescence by TADF molecules in aggregates or in the condensed phase will be studied by a range of many-body methods. Molecular dynamics will be and first principles methods will be used to generate structures of excited state ensembles. Part of the duties of the research fellow will be maintenance and further development of the Exciton code, in particular GW and BSE modules for periodic systems in a local orbital basis. The project will make use of local and national computing facilities at the Irish Centre for High End Computing.

The position is available from 1st October 2020 for one year with the possibility of renewal for a further two years. The starting salary is in the range €38,600 to €45,900 plus pension contributions.

Trinity College Dublin is Ireland’s oldest university, situated in the centre of Dublin and offers a very attractive setting for work and leisure http://www.tcd.ie The School of Physics http://www.tcd.ie/physics has 28 academics working in condensed matter theory and experiment, photonics, energy science and astrophysics.

Application process Send a CV, cover letter, the names of three referees and a description of your research and code development experience and achievements to [email protected] by 30th June 2020.
