Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A one-year postdoctoral position with possible extension up to two years is open in the Materials Modeling & Microscopy group of Rohan Mishra at Washington University in St. Louis beginning as early as September 1, 2015. The successful candidate will perform computational research to develop a fundamental understanding of surfaces of strongly correlated complex oxides and relate it to their catalytic activity. The project involves strong integration with aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy experiments that will be performed both within the group and elsewhere.

To be considered for the position, a recent Ph.D. (within past 2-3 years) in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or a related field with expertise in applying electronic structure methods (such as Density Functional Theory or Beyond DFT) to materials is required. Prior research experience in strongly correlated oxides, surfaces-interfaces, defects, catalysis, or electron microscopy would be appropriate. Candidates with experience in coding (either Python, FORTRAN, or C/C++) and using statistical and machine-learning tools will be preferred.

To apply, visit jobs.wustl.edu. The job id. is 31367.

For queries about the position, email Rohan Mishra ([email protected]
