A postdoctoral position is available at Kettering University, in the research group led by Dr. Demet Usanmaz. This team focuses on first-principles modeling of materials for energy applications.

Requirements:

- Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of solid-state physics/chemistry, electronic and thermodynamic properties of materials, and dopants and defects.
- Experience with density functional theory (DFT) methods (e.g., VASP, Quantum Espresso).
- Proficiency with Unix systems and computer programming skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.

The successful candidate will conduct first-principles simulations to investigate the properties of materials relevant to energy applications. Additionally, the candidate will gain experience mentoring undergraduates and graduate students and have the opportunity to co-teach a class. This is a one-year position but may be extended contingent upon funding.
