Postdoctoral position in DFT+DMFT:
A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the area of density functional theory (DFT) + dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) method to develop a deeper understanding of correlated materials.
The position is to be held in the department of Physics & Astronomy in the research group of Prof. Subhasish Mandal in the computational quantum materials group at West Virginia University (WVU).
Experience with first-principles DFT is essential, and a background in DMFT and/or machine learning is highly desirable. A Ph.D. in the physical sciences (Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science) is required and experience with programming (such as Python) is expected. Candidates with prior experience in DMFT would be given preference. The postdoc will collaborate with data scientists at NIST, Maryland, and experimentalists within WVU and outside.
This position is full-time and benefit eligible. The appointment is for 2 years, which can be renewed for a third year depending on mutual agreement and funding availability.
Interested candidates should send a cover letter together with a CV (including the list of publications and names of references) to Subhasish Mandal ([email protected]) at their earliest convenience.
WVU is an R1 research land grant university located within 90 minutes of Pittsburgh and 3.5 hours from the Washington/Baltimore area. Morgantown has been recognized as one of the most livable small cities in the U.S. There are extensive recreational opportunities, excellent public schools, and a supportive University environment.
