We are looking for a post doc in Trondheim to strengthen our team within data-driven materials science and software development. The position will be employed for two years within the two EU projects OntoTrans (https://ontotrans.eu/ ) and OpenModel (https://open-model.eu/) linked to the work of the European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC) (https://emmc.eu/).
OpenModel focuses on developing an open platform for workflows and integration of software for materials modelling. OntoTrans provides an ontology-based Open Translation Environment. Its Artificial Intelligence approach enables end users to represent in a standard ontological form their manufacturing process challenges and to connect them with relevant information sources and materials modelling solutions, capable to support optimal materials and process design. Your tasks will mainly focus on software development to improve methods for digital representation of materials. The position will work full time in a multidisciplinary team working together on a portfolio of EU projects focusing on interoperability and ontologies.
The post doc will be employed in the research group Materials Physics Trondheim. We work to understand fundamental physical and chemical properties of materials. Together with our Norwegian and international partners we use this understanding to develop and improve processes and materials that meet the needs of tomorrow. We use several key materials characterization and modelling competencies going all the way down to atomic resolution in combination with material physics understanding to achieve this.
The group is part of the department Materials and Nanotechnology in SINTEF Industry. Nanotechnology and advanced materials will have a significant impact on solving the grand challenges of our global society and create new business opportunities for existing and new industries. The department develops generic material knowledge on a high international level for a broad market. We assist our customers in developing new or improved products with strong competence within structural and functional materials and multi material combinations. Through combination with other relevant competencies in SINTEF we contribute to the development of sustainable value chains in the context of a circular economy.
