Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The research group of Prof. Lilia Woods has an opening for a postdoc researcher in theoretical condensed matter physics/materials science. The project focuses on long-ranged fluctuation-induced interactions in systems with Dirac-like spectra. More specifically, the goal is to develop theoretical/computational methods to understand the fundamental nature of how van dispersive interactions (van der Waals, Casimir, etc...) evolve in materials, such as silicene, Weyl semimetal, and other topologically-nontrivial phases. The successful candidate will have strong background in theoretical condensed matter as well as computer programming proficiency. A PhD in theoretical condensed matter physics, math or theoretical chemistry is a must. Candidates with knowledge about properties of topologically-nontrivial materials are particularly encouraged to apply. This is an exciting area with lots of new opportunities for discoveries. The position is expected to start in October/November of 2015. A CV and three letters of recommendation on behalf of the candidate sent by September 30, 2015 are necessary for the application process. Please contact Prof. Woods at [email protected] for more details about this position. The interested candidate is encouraged to browse the web site of our research group at http://faculty.cas.usf.edu/lmwoods/ .
