Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Postdoctoral Position in Computational Physics

A post-doc position is available in the Theoretical Physics Division at Linköping University, Sweden, which is headed by prof. Igor Abrikosov. The post-doc researcher will work on ab-initio simulations of low-dimensional magnetic insulators and layered materials at ambient and high pressure. The project is funded through an untaxed research scholarship of €2500 / month during two years.

Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. degree obtained in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry or a closely related area.
  • Profound knowledge of electronic structure theory, solid-state physics and density functional theory.
  • Documented experience and hands-on skill in at least one major ab-initio computational code, e.g., VASP, Quantum Espresso, ABINIT, Wien2k, exciting, etc
  • Excellent English language and communication skills.
  • A proactive mindset and goal-oriented work ethic.

The ideal candidate should also have experience of work with any of the following: quantum magnetism, non-collinear magnetism, Mott insulators, phase stability calculations, phonon calculations, strongly correlated materials, dynamical mean-field theory or other many-body techniques.

Linköping University is one of Sweden’s major universities, with a world-class research environment in materials physics. We offer an excellent research infrastructure with the National Supercomputer Centre located on campus.

Applications:
Please send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and a list of 2 references with names and contact information in electronic form to the contact stated below.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Linköping University strives for gender equity and diversity. We welcome applications from all backgrounds.
