A Postdoctoral Research Scientist position is available in the group of Dr. Pratibha Dev in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the Howard University (Washington DC, USA). The focus of the research is to study novel topological materials using first principles DFT-based calculations, and to develop an understanding of science at the interfaces of such quantum materials. The appointment is initially for one year and is extendible to a second year based on the performance of the candidate and the availability of funds.            

Qualifications:

Successful applicants will have a PhD. in computational/theoretical condensed matter physics or related disciplines, with a proven capacity for excellent research that is reflected in a strong publication record. A strong background in electronic structure methods is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in studying topological materials. Experienceusingstructure-prediction methods is desirable.

Personal Qualities: He/she should be:

  • able to work independently and take responsibility for the progress of the project.
  • diligent and self-motivated
