Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A postdoctoral research fellowship is available at Materials Physics Center in San Sebastian, Spain (https://cfm.ehu.es/), to work with Dr. Julen Ibañez-Azpiroz. The preferred starting date is June 2021, and the duration of the appointment will be of 2 years, which can be extended further upon mutual interest.

The successful candidate will help develop a theoretical and computational scheme for assessing the impact of many-body excitonic effects on the second-order response of materials to light. The theoretical framework will make use of time-dependent density functional theory and Wannier-function-based methodology. The outcome will help characterizing promising materials with strong absorption capabilities in the field of bulk photovoltaics for subsequent experimental analysis.

The position will be funded by the ERC Starting Grant PhotoNow. The selected candidate will be hired by the Research Association MPC - Materials Physics Center. The salary will be of 34.642,20 euros during the year before taxes.

The candidates must have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, chemistry, materials science, or a closely related field. This position requires a strong theoretical scientist with demonstrated experience in electronic structure theory and software development.

Suitable candidates can apply for this position sending by email to [email protected] the following information before 15th of February 2021:

1- An updated Curriculum Vitae, including a list of publications.

2- A presentation letter with declaration of interests (max. 1 page).

3- Two contact emails of two potential referees.

General enquiries or questions about this position should be submitted by email to: [email protected].
