A postdoctoral position is available at the University of Toronto, Ontario,
Canada, in the field of computational chemistry, in close collaboration with
a major pharmaceutical company. The work will be related to transition metal
catalysis in organic synthesis, with direct applications for the synthesis of
pharmaceuticals. We are looking for a highly motivated and creative candidate.
Substantial experience in quantum chemistry (either DFT or ab initio) is required,
experience with localized bonding methods (NBO or any flavor of modern VB theory)
is a strong asset. Experience with statistical or data fitting procedures (regression
methods) is not required but also an asset. The work will be supervised by
Professor Ulrich Fekl, at the Mississauga campus of the University of Toronto.
Computational infrastructure (Linux cluster, supercomputer access) will be provided.
While the position will be Toronto/Mississauga-based, the candidate is expected to meet
regularly with the industrial collaborators in the US, which normally can be done
through videoconferencing. The position is expected to have funding for one year, with
the possibility for extension by another year. The position would start in early 2024.
Applications (cover letter highlighting qualifications, academic CV, one letter of
recommendation)should be sent by e-mail to [email protected].
