Applications are invited for a Research Assistant/Associate position in the group of Dr Evgeny Kozik at Physics Department, King’s College London, to work on the project “Controlling unconventional properties of correlated materials by Fermi surface topological transitions and deformations” starting on 1st of December 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. The aim of the project is to explore Fermi surface deformations and topological changes and how they influence physical properties of certain correlated quantum materials using state-of-the-art diagrammatic Monte Carlo numeric techniques. The role is focused on code development and performing numeric simulations as a part of a collaborative effort together with the theoretical group of Dr Joseph Betouras at Loughborough University (with one more Research Associate to work on the project performing analytical calculations), the University of Minnesota (Prof. Chubukov) and leading experimental groups from the Max Planck Institute in Dresden (Prof. Mackenzie and Dr Hicks) and the University of Geneva (Prof. Baumberger). Applicants are expected to hold or to have recently submitted a thesis for a PhD in theoretical physics and to be able to demonstrate original independent work, for example through publications. The successful candidate will have experience in quantum many-body numeric techniques (e.g., diagrammatic Monte Carlo, quantum Monte Carlo, dynamical mean field theory, etc.) and strong programming skills.

The selection process will include competency based questions and a panel interview.
