The postdoc will work at the university of Roma la Sapienza under the responsibility of Prof. Francesco Mauri (https://www2.phys.uniroma1.it/doc/mauri/)  supported by an European ERC-Synergy project with experimental partners in Austria, Japan and Germany. The aim of the ERC consortium is to develop new energy- and momentum-resolved inelastic transmission electron spectroscopy techniques for the study of two-dimensional and/or nanostructured materials, with at least an order of magnitude improvement in energy resolution over that currently achievable [see e.g.  R Senga, K Suenaga, P Barone, S Morishita, F Mauri, T Pichler Nature 573, 247 (2019)].

The hired candidate is expected to use GW and Bethe Salpeter approaches to describe the dispersion and the lifetime of excitons in 2D materials, considering, the effects of the interaction with defects and phonons. She/he will compute the EELS scattering spectra of these excitation to simulate and to interpret the experimental results obtained by the partners of the project and to design novel experimental investigations.

The position requires a proven strong background in the description of electronic excitations using GW and Bethe Salpeter methods.

The position is supported for 3 years with a monthly net salary (after taxation and social contributions) of about 2700 euros.

The candidates should submit her/his application by e-mail to:

[email protected]

with a cover letter, a CV, a complete list of publications and contact details of two references
