Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Postdoctoral Fellow in Theoretical Simulations of Structure, Properties and Dynamics of Water and Solutions

at the Department of Physics, Stockholm University. Closing date: June 15,  2016.

The Department of Physics is an internationally lively research environment, situated in the AlbaNova University Center and has about 230 employees, 250 undergraduate students and 90 PhD students.

Project description
We have an immediate postdoctoral opening for an outstanding individual to work with Profs. Lars G.M. Pettersson and Anders Nilsson in the area of theoretical simulations of structure, properties and dynamics of water and solutions investigated experimentally at novel x-ray free-electron laser sources and synchrotrons. These experimental tools open completely new opportunities in ultrafast science using x-rays to probe the ultrafast dynamics in liquids.

Main responsibilities
At Stockholm University a new combined experimental (Anders Nilsson) and theoretical (Lars G.M. Pettersson) group has been created that focuses on fundamental reactivity at surfaces and hydrogen bonding in liquids. The Postdoctoral position will be within the subgroup studying water along its phase diagram going from ambient to deeply supercooled conditions and at enhanced pressure. The modeling tools will be molecular dynamics or Monte Carlo methods using classical force-fields or ab initio as required. Nuclear quantum effects are also of importance for many of the studied problems.

Deadline for applications: June 15, 2016
