Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

At/Contact : PhD & Postdoctoral research positions are available working with Prof. Chang Woo Myung (Dept. of Chemistry, Chungnam National University; [email protected]), Prof. Geunsik Lee or/and Prof. Kwang S. Kim (Dept. of Chemistry, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST); [email protected], [email protected]) in Korea.

Field: The aim of this project involves method development and applications of universal first principles potential/forces using sparse Gaussian process regression (SGPR) algorithms [Phys. Rev. B 2021, 103, 214102]. Also, the project aims to apply SGPR for various systems, such as battery materials [J. Phys. Chem. Lett. 2021, 12, 8115] and macromolecular/biological systems [J. Phys. Chem. A 2021, 125, 42, 9414]. Solar cell perovskite materials [Nature 2021, 598, 444; npj Comput. Mater. 2020, 6, 100; J. Phys. Chem. C  2020, 124, 8905], electrocatalysts [J. Mater. Chem. A 2020, 8, 5209; 2021, 9, 9203; Ener. Env. Sci. 2021, 14, 3468;Adv. Ener. Mater. 2021, 11, 2102388], phase transitions [Phys. Rev. Lett. 2022, 128, 045301; J. Phys. Chem. Lett. 2021, 12, 4786; Phys. Rev. E 2019, 99, 022145; Nature 2022, accepted], and multiferroicity [Nat. Commun. 2019, 10, 1; Adv. Mater. 2021, 33, 2101981] are also being developed with DFT calculations, MD simulations and Machine learning. The successful candidate may also work in an active international research environment (Europe & US).

Job description: The postdoctoral research position is a one-year position (can be extended be up to 5 years), with the appointment usually made for one year and renewed upon mutual agreement. The position is available immediately and applications will be taken into consideration until the position is filled. Both postdoctoral research and PhD positions are fully funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The successful candidate should demonstrate a high research capacity in CV along with

  • Track record in carrying out insightful research & in code development (preferred).
  • Experiences in DFT calculations, MD simulations, or/and Machine learning (preferred).

Perspective: The investigator would be a pioneering developer of accurate machine learning potentials and materials design for energy conversion and data storage/manipulation.

Salary: Commensurate with scientific capacity
