Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

We invite applications for 6 postdoc and 2 high performance computing (HPC) software engineer positions within the newly funded European Center of Excellence TREX – “Targeting Real chemical accuracy at the EXascale”, which has launched its activities at the beginning of October.

TREX federates European scientists, HPC stakeholders, and SMEs to develop and apply quantum mechanical simulations in the framework of quantum Monte Carlo. This methodology encompasses various techniques at the high-end in the accuracy ladder of electronic structure approaches and is uniquely positioned to fully exploit the massive parallelism of the upcoming exascale architectures. A main focus will be the development of a user-friendly and open-source software platform in the domain of stochastic quantum chemistry simulations, which will enable the convergence of high-performance and high-throughput computing. See https://trex-coe.eu/ for further information.

Postdoc candidates should have a PhD in chemistry, physics, or a closely related field, with a good understanding of methods in quantum chemistry or condensed matter physics, and a strong interest in method and software development. The applicant for the position at the University of Versailles should have a computer science/HPC profile.

Software engineers should have a strong background in high performance computing and, preferably, some knowledge of quantum mechanics.

The following positions are still available in the TREX laboratories listed below:

  • Prof. Claudia Filippi, University of Twente, The Netherlands, [email protected]
    1 postdoc position
    1 software engineer position

  • Dr. Saverio Moroni and Prof. Sandro Sorella, SISSA, Trieste, Italy, [email protected] and [email protected]
    2 postdoc positions
    1 software engineer position

  • Dr. Michele Casula, CNRS, Paris, France, [email protected]
    1 postdoc position

  • Dr. Pablo de Oliveira Castro, University of Versailles, Guyancourt, France, [email protected]
    1 postdoc position

  • Dr. Matus Dubecky, Slovak University of Technology, Slovakia, [email protected]
    1 postdoc position

The candidates should submit a letter, including CV and names/email addresses of 2 or more references to the laboratory of interest. Please see https://trex-coe.eu/ for more details.
