Postdoc Recruitment at Japan Atomic Energy Agency:

Development of Quantum Ab Initio Simulation Methods and Theoretical Analysis of Hydrogen in Materials

We are looking to recruit a post-doctoral fellow in the field of computational science including theoretical chemistry, molecular simulation and computational physics. The employed researcher will work on the development of quantum ab initio simulation methods that enable the analysis of hydrogen at the atomic level. The researcher will conduct large-scale numerical simulations using supercomputers and analyze the microscopic behavior of hydrogen in solid materials and at interfaces. In addition the researcher will work on the development of PIMD code that is used in the Center for Computational Science & e-Systems. Qualification requirements

(1) Having a Ph.D. degree

Terms of employment

(1) Salary: Approximately JY420,000 per month (including social insurance fee and tax)
(2) Allowance: Commuting and housing allowance are paid according to each employee.
(3) Working Hours: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (Overtime work may be imposed.)
(4) Rest period: 12:00 am - 1:00 pm
(5) Holiday: Weekend (Saturday and Sunday), national holidays, New Year’s holidays, paid holidays and special leave etc.
(6) Social insurance: Health insurance, welfare pension insurance, corporate pension fund, employment insurance, workers accident compensation insurance.
(7) Welfare: Institute family resident and dormitory are available.
(8) Trial period: 6 months.

Contract term (tentative)

From October, 1st, 2018 to March 31st, 2019. Based on evaluation, the contract term can be extended up to September 30th, 2021 for those achieved high performance if the budget from the MEXT program “Hydrogenomics” is secured.

Travel Expenses

We pay travel expenses for the recruitment examination according to JAEA’s travel allowance regulations.
