Postdoc positions in condensed Matter Theory at ... (No replies)
Back to Job listings...
We are offering a postdoc position (one year renewable, for a total of two years) at the Institut des Nanosciences de Paris (INSP), CNRS and Sorbonne Université. The position is available immediately and have to be filled within 2020. The candidate will work under the supervision of Alex Chin and Matteo Calandra and in the field of low dimensional materials composed by few atomic layers such as doped graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides but also one dimensional systems displaying charge density waves. The candidate will develop a new approach in the framework of density functional theory to calculate vibrational spectra in the regime of strong anharmonicity and/or intermediate to strong electron-electron interaction. Then he will carry out first principles and analytical calculations to understand the physical properties of these materials, including charge density waves, superconductivity and metal-insulator transition. Ideally, the candidate should have a solid background in condensed matter physics and a good experience in electronic structure calculations with plane waves (mainly) and Gaussian basis sets (to a lower extent).
The position is ideally suited for young scientist just holding a fresh PhD.
Interested candidates can send an e-mail with motivation letter, CV, full publication list and references to [email protected]
Additional information on the research activities of Alex China and Matteo Calandra can be found
