Postdoc: Two or three positions are available in the group of Craig Fennie at Cornell University in the area of the physics and chemistry of complex materials. Experience with first-principles methods is ideal. Those, however, who have a background in “model Hamiltonian” approaches and a desire to learn both first-principles methods and (some) materials chemistry in order to address material-specific questions are encouraged to apply.
I am particularly interested in people with a strong background in one of the following (not necessarily distinct) areas: 1) superconductivity and other correlated phenomena, or 2) the physics of 2D materials, or 3) spin/electron transport, or 4) structure prediction techniques, e.g., AIRSS, or 5) domains and dynamics in ferroelectrics.
How to Apply: Highly motivated candidates capable of independent work with strong communication skills, are encouraged to apply by sending a CV, the names of at least two references, estimated availability date, the link to the one paper of yours you wish me to read, a one-page max description (not a list) of past accomplishments and future research interests, which do not need to be aligned with one of the above mentioned areas, to Prof. Craig Fennie at [email protected]. (Note, I’m bad at keeping track of emails, it would help if the subject line of your email exactly read “Postdoc position”.)
Review of applications will begin immediately. The starting date is flexible, with an expected starting date sometime between May and September of 2016. Postdoc positions in my group are usually for three years.
