Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Dear all,

Prof. Dr. Daria Gorelova warmly welcomes expressions of interest to join her group as a postdoc using the program Female Talent Fund of the Hamburg Centre for Ultrafast Imaging CUI (Germany). With this program aimed to increase a number of female postdoctoral researchers, the CUI will provide a full-time working contract at the pay level 13 TV-L for two years. The main selection criteria would be the excellence of a candidate.

The prerequisite to participate in this program is getting in a contact with a leader of a group associated with the CUI and agreeing on a future research project. Prof. Dr. Daria Gorelova's group is associated with CUI and is affiliated with the I. Institute for Theoretical Physics at the Universität Hamburg, Germany. As a University of Excellence, Universität Hamburg is one of the strongest research universities in Germany.

The group theoretically describes how attosecond x-ray or extreme ultraviolet (XUV) pulses can be employed to follow electron dynamics in materials or molecular systems. We have two types of dynamics in focus: exciton dynamics, and laser-driven electron and spin dynamics.

Do you have a theoretical background in one of the following: light-matter interaction OR x-ray science OR charge/exciton-transfer dynamics OR Floquet systems OR you just see that your background matches the topics of the group? When please contact Daria Gorelova! We can design the research project depending on the interests and the background of candidate.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please proceed as follows. Send your CV to Daria Gorelova [email protected] the sooner the better and before July, 30th. If wee see that the research interests match, I would contact you (please be patient, it may take some time before I contact you), agree on the project and nominate you for the program. The deadline for nomination is August 7th. You would have to provide a recommendation letter before August 7th and we would need to submit a two-page research statement for the project. After August 7th, we would have to wait for a decision on the application, which should not take too much time. If successful, the starting date can be flexibly chosen together with the candidate, but should not be later than December 2023. A PhD should be awarded before the starting date.

Best regards,

Daria Gorelova.
