Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a 3-4 week delay between posts being submitted and emails being sent to the mailing list. Please bear with us while we try to improve this.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A two-years postdoctoral position in Theoretical/Computational Solid-State Physics is available in the group of Prof. Ludger Wirtz at the Department of Physics and Materials Science, University of Luxembourg. The project deals with the development of new ab-initio methods for the calculation of luminescence spectra of 2D materials. The focus will be on materials with indirect bandgap where exciton-phonon coupling is needed for the proper description of phonon-assisted luminescence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in physics, materials science, or a related field (or expecting to graduate soon).
  • Strong background in programming and usage of ab-initio electronic structure codes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and good communication skills (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of the methods of many-body perturbation theory (in particular the GW approximation and the Bethe-Salpeter-Equation).
  • Experience with high-throughput computing is a plus.

Interested applicants are encouraged to send their applications including a motivation letter, CV and a one-page summary of previous research achievements to [email protected]. Please indicate the names of two persons willing to write a reference letter upon request.
