Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A postdoctoral research position will become available in the group of Prof. R. Benny Gerber at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, with an expected starting date around Dec. 1, 2016. The position is for one year, with possible extension upon mutual consent for a second year.

The research topic will be computational studies of chemical stability and reactivity of solid and liquid molecular particles of nanoscale sizes. The areas of application will be physical and chemical properties of atmospheric aerosols; and of particles of new energetic materials. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in theoretical or computational chemistry, or in a closely related research area, obtained not more than 4 years before the expected starting date.
Molecular dynamics simulations using directly potential functions from quantum chemical methods are expected to be one of the main tools of research. Development of new methods or algorithms may be an important part of the research.
Interested candidates should write to Professor R. Benny Gerber at [email protected], Institute of Chemistry, Safra Campus, The Hebrew University, Jerusalem 91904, Israel. Applications should include:
1) A letter stating research interests and background
2) A C.V.
3) A list of publications.
