The Theoretical Materials Physics Group of Turan Birol at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a postdoc position. The research of the group focuses on materials with a wide range of interesting properties, such as topological insulators, multiferroics, spin-orbit coupled Mott insulators, or high temperature superconductors.

This particular position is intended for the study of correlated materials using first principles Density Functional Theory + Dynamical Mean Field Theory (DFT+DMFT). As a result, prior experience with first principles calculations at the level of DFT is necessary, and familiarity with many body methods such as DMFT is strongly preferable.

Highly motivated candidates with a degree from physics, chemistry, materials science or related fields are encouraged to apply. The starting date is negotiable, but is expected to be summer or fall 2018. The applicants can send their CVs along with a publication list, and a brief statement of research interests to [email protected]. Three letters of recommendation should also be directly sent to the same address. Review of applications will begin immediately, and continue until the position is filled.

The University of Minnesota is an equal opportunity educator and employer.
