Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Job Summary

The Dong Theoretical and Computational Chemistry Lab at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, USA is looking for an enthusiastic postdoctoral scholar to join our interdisciplinary team to develop algorithms for large-scale electronic structure and dynamics simulations on quantum computers.

The position is available immediately and will remain open until filled. The initial appointment is for one year, with the potential for extension of at least another year depending on satisfactory progress evaluation.

The primary responsibility of the postdoc is to conduct research. The postdoc is also expected to write research papers, present research at meetings, contribute to research proposals, manage research data and software, and assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

The research will be in collaboration with Lead Quantum Algorithms Specialist Dr. Kübra Yeter-Aydeniz from MITRE.

The Dong Lab is broadly interested in developing and using computational methods to study the electronic structure and chemistry of macromolecules and materials for renewable energy, biomedicine, and quantum information science. Methods we are interested in include but are not limited to machine learning, multiscale simulations, multireference methods, and quantum computing. The Dong Lab is inclusive, supportive, and collaborative. Dr. Dong offers support to help group members achieve their career goals. More about the group: https://sdonglab.org/.

Northeastern University is rapidly expanding in the field of quantum information science. We are conveniently located in Boston, MA, a recognized center of science and technology. The Greater Boston metropolitan area has a high density of world-leading academic institutions and high-tech (e.g., biotech and quantum tech) companies, offering numerous collaboration and job opportunities. Boston has maintained high world rankings on livability. The Boston campus is surrounded by museums, concert halls, parks, the Charles River, and restaurants, and has five subway stations serving the campus.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics, chemistry, computer science, or related fields.
• Experience in quantum algorithms for gate-based quantum computers and/or quantum annealers.
• Experience in programming.

How to Apply
