ICIQ – Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (Tarragona, Spain)

The postdoctoral researcher will work on a project in collaboration with international research groups in academia.

Candidate profile:

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced researcher with a finished PhD in Physics (Condensed Matter), Materials Science, or Chemistry (Physical or Theoretical). The candidate needs to have a solid background in Physics/Theoretical chemistry, an interest in atomic-scale modelling of oxides and to have performed studies and simulations applying density functional theory (DFT), as well as electronic structure calculations by using periodic ab initio codes.

Experience in DFT, semiconductor modeling, photochemical properties, computational chemistry, using high-performance supercomputing facilities and proficiency with Python and Linux are required.

Demonstrated experience in reporting and publishing research results in top scientific journals as well as strong oral and written communication skills in English* are definitely a must.

We offer:

A challenging job in an international and multidisciplinary environment.

The position is for one year (renewable upon mutual agreement).

About us:

Prof. Nuria Lopez’ group, ICIQ’s “Theoretical Heterogeneous Catalysis Group”, focuses on the use of atomistic simulations to understand the mechanisms that govern chemical processes in heterogeneous catalysis. The group has participated in more than 10 European projects. The group collaborates both with the most important experimental groups in the area in Europe and with industry, and uses massive computational resources, as those provided by the RES-BSC as well as the group’s own at ICIQ.
