A postdoc position in Computational Materials Science is available at Korean Institute of Ceramic Engineering and Technology, Jinju, S. Korea. We are searching for a highly self-motivated post-doc researcher who has a strong background in ab initio calculations and data-driven material discovery.

Job description: The post-doc researcher will focus on the two or more projects. One will be material designing for batteries and fuel cells, in collaboration with experimental research groups. Another will be an independent project in the field of material science or physics, utilizing density functional theory or machine learning codes. Our research lab is interested in the following research areas: materials for energy harvesting, diffusion in batteries and fuel cells, electronics, and etc.

The candidate must have a proactive mindset, a goal-oriented work ethic, and be able to work independently. The ideal candidate should also have excellent English language and communication skills, both written and verbal, as they will be required to collaborate with team members and communicate research findings to a broader audience. Communication of research results in journal articles and by oral presentations is expected as well.

Qualification: The ideal candidate should have

  • a Ph.D. in Material Science or Physics

  • profound knowledge of density functional theory and solid state physics

  • excellent programming skills and experience in material related machine learning codes

  • excellent English language and communication skills

 

Job offer:

  • full time research position limited to 2 years, extension possible

  • excellent and well-maintained infrastructure and administrative support

  • start: Aug or Sep, 2023
