A postdoctoral position is available, starting as soon as the current pandemics will allow, at George Mason University, with Prof. Igor Mazin (http://mason.gmu.edu/~imazin2/)
The goal of the primary project will be to understand quantitatively Ising superconductors, such as NbSe2 single layer, using a combination of first principles density functional calculations, and analytical theory.
There is a secondary project, ideally the work on both will progress in parallel. The secondary project is related to topologically nontrivial magnetic textures, and will involve collaboration with an experimental group at the same department. Similarly to the primary project, the main work will be along the lines of the density functional theory, with some analytical work.
Branching out into other interesting materials is also possible, including unconventional superconductors, unusual magnetics, or both.
For German nationals and residents partial funding through Feodor Lynen program of Alexander von Humboldt foundation is also possible.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have a demonstrable record in condensed matter physics/materials theory. Experience with first-principle calculations is highly desirable.
