Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

VILLUM FONDEN have granted 150 million DKK over the next 8 years to “The Villum Center for the Science of Sustainable Fuels and Chemicals (V-SUSTAIN)”. The clear aim of the center is to phase out fossil fuels and thereby alleviate the negative impact the continuous use these have on the earth’s climate and environment. This postdoc must focus at understanding the physical mechanisms of relevance for light absorbing materials and to perform computational screening studies. The aim is to develop an efficient device to split water made of cheap and non-toxic materials. This requires the identification of new large-gap materials, which can interface with low band-gap materials like silicon to form efficient tandem devices.

The work will take place in the Theoretical Atomic-scale Physics section (CAMD) of the Department of Physics at the Technical University of Denmark, which has a strong tradition for materials design based on electronic structure calculations. The section provides an open working environment encouraging exchange of ideas. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with the experimental groups of the Villum center.

Qualifications
Candidates for the postdoc position should have a PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science and extensive experience with electronic structure calculations. The successful candidate should be well-motivated, hardworking and willing and able to work as part of a team.
