Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The condensed matter theory group has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Physics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. We are seeking individuals with expertise in quantum transport, spintronics, topological materials, low-dimension materials, interaction-induced phase transitions, and first-principles simulations of magnetic systems. The project involves theoretical studies of magnetic topological systems for spintronics application, interaction induced novel phases in low-dimensional topological materials, and nonequilibrium quantum spin (pseudospin) dynamics. A Ph.D. in theoretical physics or a related field is desirable for this position.

The anticipated average salary for this position is $50,000/year and can be negotiated depending on years of experience after doctoral degree. The program offers fringe benefits including health insurance. The position will have an initial appointment for one-year but can be extended to a period of three-years depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funding. Please e-mail a curriculum vitae (including a list of publications) along with the names of the three references to Prof. Fei Xue at [email protected].

A pre-employment background investigation is performed on candidates selected for employment.
