Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A 1-year postdoc position is available in the Department of Chemistry at University of Zurich (Switzerland).

About the project

Our group focuses on forefront computational methods at the interface of chemistry, biology, physics, and materials science.
The research topic of the project deals with development and application of novel (dynamic) approaches in the field of photocatalysis and spectroscopy using first-principles methods. This will allow unprecedented new insight into e.g. functional liquids and systems for solar light-driven water splitting. The project may be carried out in collaboration with experimental groups, for instance of the university research priority program “Solar Light to Chemical Energy Conversion”. For further information, please contact Prof. Sandra Luber (email: [email protected]).

Candidate Requirements

The candidate must hold a strong PhD degree in chemistry, physics, or related, and have profound English skills. The successful candidate will be creative, ambitious, highly motivated and able to work independently. Strong programming skills and experience in method development, in particular for electronic structure theory / ab initio molecular dynamics, are essential.

We offer a 1-year contract (possibly with extension), a competitive salary as well as a vibrant, inspiring environment with cutting-edge resources, access to world-leading supercomputers, and high-profile interdisciplinary collaborations.

Applications

Interested applicants are encouraged to send their application documents (cover letter, CV, publication list, diplomas, description of research experience and motivation, names of at least two academic references) as one pdf document per e-mail to Prof. Sandra Luber (email: [email protected]). Start date: as soon as possible / by agreement.
