Dr. Agostino Migliore from the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Padova (UNIPD, Padova, Italy) has an opening for a 2-years postdoc position on the project “Coherent excitation transfer in photoexcited nanocarbons”.

The postdoc will study (at the interface between Theoretical-Computational Chemistry and Physics) the dynamics of photoinduced excitations (including exciton and charge transfer) in coupled nanocarbons or nanocarbons coupled to selected molecules. Using first-principles and quantum-classical methods, the electronic response of the systems to the external stimulus will be resolved in time and space, with the aim of understanding the role of quantum coherence and devising ways of controlling it to influence excitation-transfer processes.

The research will involve the use of DFT, TDDFT, RT-TDFT, and possibly MD as needed. Theoretical models will also be used in the overall research project. The postdoc is not required to contribute to theoretical modeling, but is welcome to contribute if desired. Our theoretical research will benefit from collaboration with experimental colleagues performing research on optical nanomaterials, ultrafast spectroscopy, and charge transfer.

The salary will be very competitive with respect to the Italian standards. The deadline for the application is 12:00 AM (Italy time zone) of 10 November 2023.

Interested applicants can find the official UNIPD job posting, with a detailed description of the application procedure (both in English and Italian), on the webpage https://protocollo.unipd.it/albo/viewer , post number 5117. Informal inquiries for further clarifications can be addressed to [email protected] .
