Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The Theoretical Materials Physics Group led by Turan Birol at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a postdoc position starting in Summer/Fall 2016. The research of the group focuses on the computational design of new materials that host interesting phenomena such as topological insulators, multiferroics, strongly spin-orbit coupled Mott insulators, or high temperature superconductors. The initial project of the postdoc is going focus on the electronic and structural properties of correlated vanadate compounds. Prior experience with first principles calculations at the level of DFT is necessary, and familiarity with many body methods such as Dynamical Mean Field Theory is strongly preferrable. The possible role of the postdoc is likely to involve close collaborations with experimentalists.

The applicants should send a CV with a publication list, and a brief statement of research interests to [email protected]. Three letters of recommendation should also be directly sent to the same address. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

The University of Minnesota is an equal opportunity educator and employer.
