Postdoc position at the Institut de Ciència de ... (No replies)
Back to Job listings...
We have an opening for a postdoctoral position in the field of theoretical modeling of nanoscale heat transport at the Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC). The position is for up to 24 months and is offered within the project Thermal Challenges in Microelectronics: Navigating the Heat Maze Towards More Efficient Cooling Solutions (COOL), directed by my colleague Sebastián Reparaz (experiments) and myself (theory).
COOL targets the development of a high-resolution thermal imaging approach to study heat dissipation in Si-based microstructures. The key objective of the project is to develop a device capable of imaging heat propagation with high temporal (<400ps) and spatial (<550nm) resolution targeting applications in microelectronics. Theoretical calculations and numerical experiments are going to be very valuable tools to understand heat flux propagation. Techniques spanning from ab initio quantum mechanical calculations to finite element modelling (FEM) enable the modeling and prediction of heat transport behaviors, providing valuable insights in the real-time thermal dynamics. These simulations provide virtual laboratories for testing various design scenarios and thermal management strategies before physically implementing them, significantly expediting the optimization process.
Ideal candidates for the theory opening have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science and documented expertise in electronic structure calculations, molecular dynamics and/or finite element modelling. The main focus of the theory activity will in part depend on the specific expertise of the recruited postdoc.
Interest candidates can contact me at [email protected], attaching an updated CV and a publication record. The position should ideally be filled as soon as possible. Please, forward this offer to anyone that might be interested.
