Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a 3-4 week delay between posts being submitted and emails being sent to the mailing list. Please bear with us while we try to improve this.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A postdoc position (1+1y) is available at the Center for Molecular Modeling of Ghent University, Belgium, to work on precision and accuracy studies of DFT codes and methods.

The intended work is about quantitative assessments of the accuracy of a variety of properties at several levels of DFT, and assessments of the precision of DFT codes and methods (including pseudopotential libraries). An important aspect of the work will be to determine generally valid benchmark sets for the studied properties.

The intended activities build on work documented in http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/10408436.2013.772503 and
http://dx.doi.org/10.1126/science.aad3000. A video that describes the plans is available here, and this website is another useful source of information.

Candidates should have a proven track record in the responsible use of one or more DFT codes. Experience with scripting or work flow management is a plus, as well as a practical knowledge of statistical analysis. Dedication, carefulness and open-mindedness for communication with code developers across the DFT community are paramount. It helps if you are
not afraid to dig in (old) experimental literature. There is no formal application document, but your motivation letter should point out why you are the creative mind who is ideally suited for this kind of work (no default motivation letters, please).

Applications as well as informal inquiries can be addressed to stefaan.cottenier [at] ugent.be or kurt.lejaeghere /at/ ugent.be .
